Chiropractic care can help with a range of musculoskeletal problems, including back and neck pain, joint pain, sciatica, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries, posture-related problems and muscular tension. Treatment is tailored to your symptoms and individual circumstances.
-
Your appointment begins with a discussion of your symptoms and medical history, followed by an appropriate physical and musculoskeletal assessment. Your chiropractor will then explain their findings and discuss suitable treatment options with you.
-
Chiropractic treatment should not be painful, although you may experience some temporary tenderness or muscle soreness following treatment. Your treatment will be adapted to your individual needs and comfort.
-
Chiropractic treatment is not appropriate for every condition or every patient. Your symptoms and medical history will be assessed to determine whether chiropractic care is suitable. Where another form of medical assessment or treatment is more appropriate, this will be discussed with you.
-
Chiropractic and physiotherapy both help with musculoskeletal problems, but their approaches differ. Chiropractic care typically focuses on the spine, joints, movement and musculoskeletal function, using techniques such as gentle adjustments, mobilisation and soft-tissue treatment. Physiotherapy has a broader focus on restoring movement, strength and physical function through exercise, rehabilitation, manual therapy and condition-specific programmes.
There is some overlap, particularly for back pain, joint problems and sports injuries. The most appropriate treatment depends on your symptoms, condition and treatment goals. -
